Brunei Imports at 416.40 Million BND


Imports to Brunei dropped by 1.2 percent year-on-year to BND 416.4 million in April 2020, largely driven by machinery and transport equipment (-26.6 percent), manufactured goods (-40.4 percent), and food (-34.5 percent). Brunei's trade surplus narrowed 4.9 percent to BND 310.9 million in April 2020 from BND 327.0 million in the same month a year earlier. This was the smallest trade surplus since December last year, as exports fell by 2.8 percent year-on-year to BND 727.3 billion, mainly led by mineral fuels (-9.3 percent) and machinery and transport equipment (-72.3 percent). The highest share of exports went to Singapore, followed by Japan, Malaysia, and China. Meanwhile, imports dropped by 1.2 percent to BND 421.5 million, largely driven by machinery and transport equipment (-26.6 percent), manufactured goods (-51.4 percent), food (-23.4 percent). The highest share of imports came from China, followed by the US, Singapore, and Malaysia.
