Malta Inflation Rate Eases to 8-Month Low
The annual inflation rate in Malta fell to 1.3 percent in November of 2019 from 1.4 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since March, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.3 percent vs 1.4 percent in October); recreation & culture (2.0 percent vs 2.4 percent) and housing & utilities (1.3 percent vs 1.8 percent). On the other hand, cost advanced faster for restaurants & hotels (2.0 percent vs 1.9 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.6 percent vs 1.4 percent) and health (1.9 percent vs 1.8 percent) while inflation was steady for transport (at 1.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 3.0 percent, after decreasing 1.4 percent in the prior month.

The annual inflation rate in Malta fell to 1.4 percent in October of 2019 from 1.6 percent in the previous month. It was the lowest inflation rate since March, as prices slowed for restaurants & hotels (1.9 percent vs 2.0 percent in September); food & non-alcoholic beverages (1.4 percent vs 3.0 percent); housing & utilities (1.8 percent vs 2.2 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (1.4 percent vs 2.3 percent) and communication (a flat reading vs 0.2 percent). On the other hand, prices advanced faster for transport (1.7 percent vs 1.4 percent); recreation & culture (2.4 percent vs 2.3 percent) and health (1.8 percent vs 1.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 1.4 percent, after decreasing 1.1 percent in the prior month.

It was the lowest inflation rate in six months, as prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3 percent from 3.6 percent in August); restaurant & hotels (2 percent from 2.1 percent); transport (1.4 percent from 1.8 percent); recreation & culture (2.3 percent from 2.6 percent); housing & utilities (2.2 percent from 2.3 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (2.3 percent from 3 percent) and communication (0.2 percent from 0.7 percent). Meanwhile, cost of health advanced further (1.7 percent from 1.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 1.1 percent, after increasing 0.8 percent in the prior month.

Annual inflation rate in Malta increased to 1.9 percent in August of 2019 from 1.8 percent in each of the previous two months. It is the highest inflation since October of 2018, as cost advanced further for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.6 percent vs 3.2 percent in July); recreation & culture (2.6 percent vs 2.2 percent); housing & utilities (2.3 percent vs 2.2 percent); miscellaneous goods & services (3 percent vs 2.8 percent) and health (1.5 percent vs 1.4 percent). On the other hand, cost slowed for restaurant & hotels (2.1 percent vs 2.2 percent); transport (1.8 percent vs 2 percent) and communication (0.7 percent vs 0.8 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.8 percent, following a 0.3 percent gain in July.

Malta's annual inflation came in at 1.8 percent year-on-year in July 2019, unchanged from the previous month's eight-month high, as prices rose for restaurants & hotels (2.2 percent vs 2.1 percent), food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.2 percent vs 3.7 percent), transport (2.0 percent vs 0.8 percent), recreation & culture (2.2 percent vs 1.1 percent), housing & utilities (2.2 percent vs 2.1 percent), and miscellaneous goods & services (2.8 percent vs 2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.3 percent in July, after a 1.3 percent jump in June.

Malta Inflation Rate Rises to 8-Month High of 1.8%
Annual inflation rate in Malta increased to 1.8 percent in June of 2019 from 1.7 percent in each of the previous two months. It is the highest inflation since October of 2018, as cost rose faster for recreation & culture (1.1 percent from 0.5 percent); miscellaneous goods & service (2.5 percent from 2.4 percent); ) health (1.5 percent from 1.4 percent); alcoholic beverages & tobacco (0.2 percent from 0.1 percent) and communication (1.6 percent from a flat reading). Also, prices rebounded for household goods & maintenance (0.1 percent from -0.1 percent) and clothing & footwear (1.4 percent from -0.4 percent). On the other hand, prices slowed for food & non-alcoholic beverages (3.7 percent from 4.3 percent in May); transport (0.8 percent from 1 percent) and housing & utilities (2.1 percent from 2.3 percent); while inflation was steady for restaurant & hotels (2.5 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 1.3 percent, after a 1.4 percent gain in May.
